Eytan Fox's "THE BUBBLE" wins big with four awards including Best Picture

The 2008 Glitter Awards, held at the Hookah lounge in Hollywood, turned out many surprises. Eytan Fox's "The BUBBLE" swept with four awards "Gay Press", "Best Foreign Film"," Foreign Gay & Lesbian Film festival Award and
the most prestigious award for the evening " best picture". The incindiary cross cultural drama about two lovers in the middle east was well received and voted on by the gay press as well as the domestic and foreign gay &
lesbian film festivals. TLA Releasing's "Boy Culture" won best indie awards with its lead Derek Maygar winning in the Best Actor category and Freshman Orientation's Bryce Johnson winning in the best supporting category.
"Hollywood Dreams" Karen Black won for best supporting actress with Itty Bitty Titty Committee's Melonie Diaz winning for best actress. All four performance categories were selected by the Screen Actors Guild LGBT
Committee.

The newly installed Glitter Award - Writers Guild of America West's Gay & Lesbian Writer's Committee Award named Picture This Entertainment's "Whole New Thing" best screenplay. The Strand Releasing "Puccini for Beginners"
won for best lesbian feature. The moving documentary from First Run Features "For the Bible tells me so" won the best documentary category.

Presenters for the evening included "Shelter" and "Billy Hollywood's Screen Kiss" Brad Rowe, Academy Award nominated and award winning actresses Sally Kirkland and Karen Black, Eating Out film series and creator of the Logo
Animated series "Rick and Steve the happiest couple in all the world and Boy Culture's Allan Brocka, star of Logos' "Noahs Arc" Darryl Stephens, and Boy Culture's Johnathon Trent. Katherine Bailess, actress on Logo
Entertainment's TV series"Sordid Lives" , Here's "The Lair" star David Moretti and Another Gay Movie franchise star Johan Blechman were also among the presenters.

The force in entertainment who swept with all laughs and livened up the show was comedienne extraordinaire Luenell. She is recognized by the mainstream and urban sectors of the population from her numerous BET Comic View
appearances, DVDs such as Laffapalooza with Jamie Foxx, 2 Bees from Oakland and Comedy After Dark. The hip-hop cult classic film Never Die Alone in which she co-starred with DMX, playing a feisty bartender named Jasper and
most recently the film BORAT: The Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and Katt Williams American Hustle has solidified her mark as a highly acclaimed internationally known comedienne.
Luenell recently guest appeared on VH1’s new series I Love the New Millennium and Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back. Currently, Luenell has re-occuring roles on The Tony Rock Project, Chocolate News and Head Case.
All About Steve, her newest film project is set for release sometime in '09.

The Glitter Awards is an evening to conmemorate and honor gay themed theatrical motions pictures. Actor,writer,producer,director, distributor and autheur Jorge Ameer founded the Glitter Awards with the main objective
to celebrate and recognize theatrical works where the main storylines focus on the GLBT experience.  The complete and uncensored show will be available free of charge to general audiences worldwide in January through its
pre-recorded webcast on imdb.com.

DEREK MAGYAR - GLITTER AWARD - BEST DOCUMENTARY

Derek Magyar, known for the critically acclaimed and Indie favorite, BOY CULTURE continues to captivate audiences all around. Magyar will soon be seen starring next to Thora Birch in the Lions Gate horror/thriller film TRAIN. Also, coming soon is the much anticipated Chris Carter ¡covert operation¡¯, FENCEWALKER, a dark drama that will include an up and coming cast, including Magyar himself. Filming next, Magyar has added the credit of ¡®producer¡¯ for another Independent Film, FLYING LESSONS, which he will be co-producing and starring alongside a leading cast.

 

BRYCE JOHNSON -GLITTER AWARD - BEST FEATURE SCREENPLAY

Bryce Johnson recently starred in the film, TRUCKER, with Michelle Monaghan, which was released at the Tribeca Film Festival this past Spring. He is also credited for his role in the Sundance Film Festival acclaimed, SLEEPING DOGS LIE. Written and directed by Bob Goldthwait, Bryce stars opposite Melissa Paige Hamilton (Desperate Housewives) in the dark romantic comedy about past indiscretions that sparked a bidding war in Park City. Bryce is also credited for the indie film MAN MAID, where he stars alongside Sara Rue, Jane Lynch and John Doe. Bryce's great performances were also recognized for his starring role as Harry in the film, HARRY + MAX. The attractive and charismatic young actor also landed the role of “Josh Ford” on “POPULAR” which led to numerous Pilots and guest appearances on television series such as “GILMORE GIRLS”, “HOUSE”, and “NIP/TUCK”. Bryce's other film credits include the independents “HARRY AND MAX” and “HOME OF PHOBIA”, as well as FOX 2000's “CHASING PAPI”, “THE SKULLS 3” and Universal's “BRING IT ON AGAIN”.

David Moretti is best known for his starring role as Thom Etherton in here!TV's gothic vampire series “the Lair”. He came out publicly in the pages of The Advocate late 2007, preferring to be honest with his sexuality, than live the lie so many actors in Hollywood choose to portray. And he has soared from there. Season 2 is currently airing and season 3 is shooting 13 episodes. David has also recently starred in the eerie thriller Murder.com, opposite David Chokachi and Alexandra Paul, another thriller Playing with Fire, and worked on Dante's Cove. While not shooting, Dave has worked with charities such as APLA, The Trevor Project, AIDS Walk LA, and the Center for health Justice.

Darryl Stephens started acting professionally while attending UC Berkeley, working with a theater troupe called Sassymouth and performing original gay-themed plays by John Fisher in San Francisco’s theater district. After taking Fisher’s hit show, “Medea, The Musical” to HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival, he moved back to Los Angeles and started pursuing television and film work. MTV’s “Undressed” was his first TV gig and Dirk Shafer’s film “Circuit” was his first feature. After a few years of more supporting roles, Darryl booked the role of Noah in “Noah’s Arc,” Patrik-Ian Polk’s groundbreaking series for the Logo Network. Soon after, he starred in Q. Allan Brocka’s film “Boy Culture” and made a memorable appearance in

Todd Stephens’ “Another Gay Movie.” Since then, he’s played a supporting role in the upcoming feature, “Bolden” starring Anthony Mackie, voiced a character on the animated series “Rick and Steve” alongside RuPaul and written a screenplay with his best friend Stephen Bowman that he hopes to produce within the year.
